If you’ve been around here for any period of time, you know I swoon over blue and white everything. This blue and white table setting is totally a reflection of my personal style, and I loved putting this table setting together.
In case you’re doubting my blue and white love, I’ve never seen a blue and white dress I didn’t like, and we tore out the kitchen in the cottage and installed a blue island with white quartz countertops. And I’ve had to make a concerted effort to stop buying clothes in navy because I just became a wash of blue.
I blame my mother for this (as you do) – my kitchen growing up had hand-painted blue and white tiles and was dotted with blue and white pottery. Still to this day, she has a huge collection of various blue and white plant pots, vases, and plates she uses all over the house for a little splash of something blue.
When Martin and I bought our first house in Indianapolis, my mom gifted us some of her unused blue and white pottery (yes, there was enough that she had a small collection that was unused). And we decorated with the replica Chinese porcelain and Delftware, which I’m convinced will absolutely never go out of style. (My theory is that if it’s not gone out of style since the Ming Dynasty, it’s probably going to last forever.)
All of those pieces made their way to England when we moved, and we’ve added a bit to our collection with trips to T.K.Maxx and the antique stores.
I first put this blue and white table setting together for our Fourth of July outdoor barbecue and loved it so much I wanted it as a more permanent fixture in our dining room. I try to mix up the pieces, rather than make them match, for a more eclectic look, but both Spode and Ralph Lauren have collections that will allow a more matched look.
Because of the nature of my personal collection, many of the pieces aren’t available, so I sourced my favourite items that are available to buy online which you can find at the bottom of the article. But do remember that places like T.J.Maxx, Home Goods, Hobby Lobby, and antique stores are the perfect places to source beautiful blue and white pottery for you to decorate your own dining table with.

Holly,
Your home is so beautiful! I’ve seen pieces similar to the ones you linked as the style seems to be quite popular however I’ve never seen a table setting so lovely! Also, I’m a firm believer that you can never have too much blue. 😉

Thank you so much, Kirsten! That’s really kind of you to say, though I think it’s definitely down to “these are the pieces I have, let’s put them together.” And yes, definitely never enough blue! – Nicole
