Last week was a great one, but so SO busy. I ended up getting pulled into a last-minute meeting in London on Thursday, which completely disrupted my work plan for both Thursday and Friday. But it was totally worth it – 1, because LONDON. And 2, because the meeting was really productive and completely worth the trip.
We got to stop by Elan Cafe (where this photo is from), and it was everything an Instagrammer could dream of. I loved their “definition” of Elan – (n.) distinctive and stylish elegance; impulsive, confident ardour. I’ll be living off that definition for the foreseeable future.
I thought I’d put together a series where I share a few of my favourite things (cue music…) every so often so you all can see what I’m into. There are always new articles or music coming across my radar, and it’s really great to be able to share those things so you can see what works for you, too. Leave a comment below or on my Facebook or Instagram with what’s on your Love List this week – I always enjoy hearing about new things that bring you joy!
If you’re a business professional and you’re not subscribed to HBR, you are completely missing out. The Harvard Business Review has been an indispensable resource for me since I started my own business. And now that I’m working in a business of 120, it’s value to me has only grown. I subscribe to the HBR Daily alerts on my work email so I don’t miss an article and jot notes from each of the relevant articles to reference later. Whether you’re looking for case studies on hiring processes, a range of articles on marketing, or advice on interviewing, if it has to do with business, you can find it here.
My favourite article so far has been this one on leadership development. I’ve not only used it to think about how to structure leadership development in the company, but also have the exhibit “Levels of Competence” printed and attached to my pin board to remind myself of my own personal leadership development goals.

I mentioned on my Instagram that Martin and I visited Eden Hall Day Spa in early January this year; specifically, I mentioned how incredibly refreshed and relaxed we felt after just one day there. We’ve both been trying to add in parts of that day into our day-to-day lives – things like vegetable-rich meals, daily exercise, and plenty of sleep.
One of the things I noticed about Eden Spa, which you’ve probably noticed at your own spa, is the presence of soothing music to lull attendees into full relaxation. Since we’ve been back, prior to going to bed we’ve been listening to Apple Music‘s playlist titled “Sleep Sounds,” which has been the most relaxing way to decompress from the day and drift off to sleep. Martin’s even asking for “that whale music” when we crawl into bed at night.
Give it a shot and see if it helps coax you to sleep a little sooner.
I love a good deal. Like, not paying full price for anything is a way of life around here. Imagine my little heart’s excitement when I found out about THE OUTNET, a discounted designer website run by The Net-A-Porter Group. So you know it’s gonna be good.
Check out this off-the-shoulder Herve Leger at 55% off. And these leather and pointelle-knit over-the-knee Stuart Weitzman’s at 45% off. And this carry-everywhere taupe Dolce & Gabbana handbag for more than 50% off.
This is definitely the place to check out for last season’s must-have items or to save up for that one piece you now you wouldn’t ever dare to spend full-price on. They have a wide range of brands – from UGG and Kate Spade right through to Valentino and Oscar de la Renta. And yes, they do a discount sale similar to Net-A-Porter’s – which is going on RIGHT NOW.
I’m sort of obsessed with Press London right now, for ALL of the reasons including the fact that they deliver juice cleanses to my door. But my current favourite product of theirs is the Vanilla Leche Nut M*lk, made from almond milk, dates, vanilla bean, and Himalayan salt. I don’t know how to say this any clearer, but it. is. DELICIOUS.
I’ve had it for dessert. I’ve mixed it into smoothies. I’ve even frothed it for my latte in the morning. And every way I prepare it, I can’t get enough.
US-based readers, so sorry this one doesn’t apply to you, but if you’re intrigued by Press’s vegan meal plans, check out Sakara.
